LUCKNOW: IPS officer Amitabh Thakur on Monday filed a petition before Lucknow bench of Allahabad High Court demanding Rs 10 lakh as compensation from the Uttar Pradesh government for keeping him illegally suspended for months.
In the petition, he said that he was suspended on July 13, 2015, which automatically ended on October 10, 2015, when the suspension was not extended within 90 days. Despite repeated directions of the Central government and Lucknow bench of Central Administrative Tribunal (CAT), he was kept illegally suspended for seven months till May 10, 2016.
Presenting example of UP cadre Indian Forest Service officer Ram Lakhan Singh whom Supreme Court directed a compensation of Rs 10 lakh for state illegalities, Amitabh has prayed for equal compensation from the state government.
Amitabh was suspended a day after he had lodged a complaint with the police accusing Mulayam Singh Yadav of threatening him on phone.
