PATNA: The Patna high court on Wednesday upheld the life sentence given to former RJD MP Mohammad Shahabuddin and three others by a Siwan court in a 13-year-old double murder case.
Shahabuddin was convicted by special judge Ajay Kumar Srivastava on December 12, 2015. Justice Srivastava had termed it a “rarest of rare case” while convicting him.
Brothers Satish and Girish Raushan were abducted from their shop in Siwan after they had refused to pay an extortion amount of Rs2.5 lakh to Shahabuddin’s henchmen.
However, he was killed three days before he was to depose for the second time in court. Rajeev had told the court that Shahabuddin had ordered the deaths ofhis brothers. Shahabuddin’s lawyer Zeyaul Hoda told TOI, “We will move Supreme Court against the high court’s order.”
